The Barefoot Running Coach app from VIVOBAREFOOT, specifically for iPhone, is designed to help runners of all levels perfect their running form to rediscover the joy of movement and to prevent injury.

This app closely follows the coaching methodology of Lee Saxby, allowing you to compare yourself to common running forms. Following Saxby’s mantra: Posture, Rhythm and Relaxation, along with foot strike, you will be able to self-diagnose your form and learn tips and drills to help you transition to skillful barefoot running.

Every year up to 80% of runners are injured, and according to Harvard research you’re twice as likely if you have a heel strike as opposed to a forefoot strike. These alarming facts have helped push forward a revolution in barefoot movement. VIVOBAREFOOT has partnered with leading biomechanics expert and “World’s Best Barefoot Running Coach”* Lee Saxby to help runners transition to skillful, injury-free barefoot running form. After all, technique is everything.

Why Barefoot:
As humans, we are born to run, but not with thick padded trainers. Proprioception (sensory feedback, mainly from the nerves in the feet) is the foundation of skillful movement. When wearing cushioned shoes, we reduce proprioception, hindering our ability to move naturally. We would never expect a musician to wear thick, padded gloves when playing an instrument; so why would we expect anyone to wear thick, padded shoes when running? Running barefoot, or wearing a shoe that mimics barefoot movement, will allow you to learn a skillful, injury-free and enjoyable running technique.
